IN THE YELLOWING LIGHT

" In the yellowing light of that last evening it was a dusty drive to the church of Belen which stands in the low lying part of the town and can be seen from far away upon the terraced platform. An insane asylum, or we could not quite determine if it was that or a hospital for sick prisoners, now occupies the convent buildings, but the rather odd-looking female who is in charge of the church, and refused to accept a present, keeps it scrupulously clean."
